New beauty buys - tried and tested

Kim Gray tests some new beauty releases, from facial products and cellulite cream to scalp tonics...

Dermalogica Ultra Calming Range

Dermalogica launches its newest range, the Ultra Calming Range for Sensitive Skin. There are so many factors that can irritate the skin and make it feel tight, itchy, red and flaky. Pollution, weather, sunburn, alcohol and cigarette smoke all aid in irritating our skin.

I love the Ultra Calming Mist to refresh hot, flustered skin. The Ultra Calming Serum Concentrate is great for that horrible inflamed spot.

The Ultra Calming Mist is also great for the plane, where the aircon can leave your skin feeling tight, dry and irritated.

Plus it’s also magic for sunburn and after the dreaded leg wax (ouch!). For more info and stockists, see here.

dermaxime cellumendDermaxime Cellumend Cellulite Cream

The Dermaxime Cellumend Cellulite Cream is by far the best cellulite cream I’ve tried. Seriously, I don’t know if it’s coincidental, but there has been a vast reduction in cellulite on the back of my legs.

I’ve been using the cream for 2 to 3 weeks now on my thighs and I can feel a vast difference in skin texture too. Loving this product. Get technical and read more here.

Clinique Dramatically Different moisturiser

Although it's not a new release, I’ve been using the Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion from Clinique aimed at a dry skin the last week or so and I’m really enjoying it. It can be used for day and night, has a nice consistency, and feels slightly ‘richer’ than most lotions, but it’s obviously not a thick, cream-like texture.

My skin feels comfortable, moisturised and soft. Having never tried Clinique products, I’m impressed and enjoying this a lot! There is no SPF, however, so remember to apply that separately.

Ponds Clear Solutions Anti Spot Facial Scrub

I’ve been testing the Ponds Clear Solutions Anti Spot Facial Scrub. A scrub one should only really use twice a week or so, but these granules are more like soft beads that dissolve as you wash your face, and so I’ve been using it every day. My skin has been feeling great.

A little goes a long way and it is super foamy. This is a great budget product. I do get that squeaky clean sound after washing, which one usually associates with the skin being stripped of its natural oils, but it definitely hasn’t left my skin feeling tight or dry.

philip kingsley scalp tonicPhilip Kingsley Scalp Tonics

We always think about our hair; caring, colouring and usually over conditioning it, forgetting about our scalp.

Philip Kingsley launches two Scalp Tonics to energise, hydrate and stimulate the scalp with anti-bacterial properties.

This is an easily usable, leave-in treatment, which feels cold to the touch. Very refreshing. Read more here.
