We all want glowing, healthy skin. And we can all have it, but it does take some work. Pollutants, sun and even daily activities take their toll on our skin. Follow BeautySA's easy steps and soon you'll be glowing from the inside out.

Yes you've heard it many times, but it's true, drinking enough water helps prevent fine lines from appearing. What you may not know is that these lines aren't necessarily wrinkles – they're dehydration lines.
Follow a skincare routine – and stick to it religiously
Your skincare routine needs to be specific to what works for you. You may have a three-step routine, while someone else may need to follow five steps. We've covered the basic three…
1. Cleanse
Begin by investing in a good cleanser – one that suits your skin type and budget. Cleansers clean away dirt and grime and they also help to clear up blemishes, minimise wrinkles and help control oil and pH of the skin.
Dermatologists recommend washing your face twice a day, morning and evening. We recommend Pond's Age Miracle Daily Regenerating Facial Foam, R84,99, Garnier Oil Control Complete Deep Clean Face Wash R31,95, and
2. Tone
Not many people follow this step because it comes down to your current products, how effective your cleanser is and personal preference. Toning helps remove remaining traces of oil and make-up, and should be applied with a cotton pad. We recommend Yardley Oatmeal Purifying Toner, R69.95 and Pond's Age Miracle Regenerate and Refine Cleansing Toner, R84,99.
Splurge Alert!
Extra treatments are always effective. Dermalogica's Ultracalming mist, R440, primes the skin and locks in moisture, while Sensai's Prime Solution, R1 630, reawakens skin cells that have become less responsive with age.
3. Moisturise
We lose moisture during the day, and to keep our skins protected we need to apply a moisturiser everyday. Using two separate day and night creams will add extra benefits – night-time creams repair while you sleep, and day-time creams, well, during the day.
We recommend Revlon Hydra Boost – Intense Radiance moisturising day cream, R120 and Dermalogica skin smoothing cream, R750, as well as Clarins Extra Firming Night Cream, R680 and Johnson's Face Care Night cream, R49,95.
Diet
The saying 'you are what you eat' has, unfortunately, been proved to be true.
Excessive amounts of junk food will start to show on your skin. Replace fast foods with fruit and vegetables and balanced meals.
Super foods like berries contain antioxidants, which add vitality to your skin and create a luminous appearance.
Sleep
A good night's sleep will help prevent those black rings and fine lines from appearing under your eyes. If there were more hours in a day we all might be able to get the necessary eight hours of snooze time, but try to remember how important this is for your skin, and make the time.
In part 2 of our Luminous Vitality series we show you how to get healthy, shiny hair. Or you can skip to part 3 and learn the secrets to perfect skin, and the role make-up can play in part 4.
