Cool tannings

Now winter is almost upon us, we South Africans are still blessed with bright sunshine for many days of the season.
This means basking in the sun will still be dangerous.
Head to your favourite beauty salon and indulge in their in-house tanning service.
The tan spray used in most of these salons contains dehydroxyacetone (DHY).
DHY reacts with dead skin cells on the surface of the body which makes the skin turn brown.
Unless your beautician adds a cosmetic bronzing formula which hastens the procedure, DHY on its own, takes 3 or 4 hours to show.
As the skin peels off, the tan fades.
