Join the organisers of Positive Ageing Edutalks and Expo 2013, at the Johannesburg Country Club, Woodmead, on Saturday 3rd March at 09h00 for a presentation by renowned health and nutrition expert and best-selling author, Patrick Holford.

Patrick will be in South Africa during March to launch his latest book, The 10 Secrets of Healthy Ageing. The launch of Holford’s new book which he co-authored with award-winning medical journalist, Jerome Burne, offers pioneering solutions and strategies for healthy ageing.

With the proportion of the world’s population over 60 years of age expected to double to 22% to almost two billion by 2050 and the number of people over 85 escalating from 700 000 in the late 1980s to 3,5 million in 2027, the cost of healthcare and managing what has been termed ‘the silver tsunami’ is a massive challenge facing policymakers and the medical profession.

Although life expectancy is increasing, this is only good news if you stay well and are able to. The 10 Secrets of Healthy Ageing draws on the latest research findings, and the health secrets of long-living/lived people. During this one hour presentation, Patrick will explain how your body changes as you age and what you can do to avoid the illnesses of old age, as well as the aches, pains, poor sleep and eyesight deterioration that many believe are an inevitable part of ageing. He will also share the secrets of staying as fit and as mentally alert as possible, for as long as possible.
